Keith Olbermann: Fired By Current TV!
Keith Olbermann has just been fired by the cable network that took him in after the much higher-profile cable network he was previously on cut him loose.
Current TV, which was co-founded by Al Gore, released a statement saying it was parting ways with the pundit, surprisingly citing a difference in values.
The decision comes less than a year after Keith Olbermann was fired by MSNBC, then hired by Current to help energize the network’s primetime ratings.
Current said in a statement this afternoon:
"We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet."
"We are more committed to those goals today than ever before."
"Current was founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it."
Current also announced today that it will be giving former New York Governor and CNN personality Eliot Spitzer a show in the network’s 8 p.m. hour.

Learn Information How To Cure or Alleviate Eczema
Eczema is a chronic skin giving the following symptoms: dry and rough skin, redness, itching, small papules and small blisters filled with fluid.

As these can cause eczema rubbing and scratching to the area often being rubbed. Since the uncomfortable feelings in the skin caused by eczema can make a person rub the affected parts, eczema can worsen existing rubbing or scratching.
The skin may be affected by eczema are easily infected by microorganisms that aggravate the condition.
The following measures can be useful for any type of eczema:
- You can find creams and lotions to help against eczema by exerting many simultaneous actions: softening the skin, protects skin against external influences, by reducing inflammation, moisturizing the skin, reduce itching, killing bacteria or fungi, removing scales and induce healing of wounds and damages.
- Some of these topical remedies are all natural ingredients, may contain other natural and synthetic ingredients together. Which each of the ingredients listed effects are blended together. The oily substance that offers some of the effects simultaneously are often important ingredients.
- Use some of the topical steroids to relieve inflammation. However, some doubts against drug use with steroids, in particular the use of all time; those steroids can give skin atrophy.
- Anti-histaminic oral drugs sometimes prescribed to treat eczema. The main use of these drugs to reduce inflammation.
- Oral Pills are made from natural ingredients available in the market to treat eczema. These pills also work by reducing inflammation, stimulating healing and supplying materials for skin healing.

Wall St falls for 3rd day after jobless data

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks were on track for a third day of losses on Thursday after jobless claims data failed to meet heightened market expectations as stocks come off their best first quarter in 14 years.
New U.S. jobless claims fell to a 4-year low last week but still missed forecasts, while the prior week's number was revised up. After a period of improvement, analysts said the report showed signs of stalling, a worry for investors.
"The data today is evidence that we're not going to have the robust recovery we had been expecting. The economy is growing, and the labor market is healing, but both on a very slow basis," said Michael Yoshikami, chief executive officer at Destination Wealth Management in Walnut Creek, California.
Separately, U.S. household income grew at a faster pace in the fourth quarter than previously thought, which should help underpin spending this quarter.
The S&P 500 is up 10.9 percent this quarter, its best start to the year since 1998 and its best quarter since the third period of 2009.
Some analysts are looking for a market pullback early in the second quarter after the strong early run as investors seek confirmation the economy is not about to slow.
"We've had an incredible rally, and in order for us to keep moving up, we're going to need data that is very strongly positive, not just lukewarm," Yoshikami said.
The Dow Jones industrial average (DJI:^DJI - News) dropped 82.91 points, or 0.63 percent, at 13,043.30. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (MXP:^GSPC - News) was down 13.25 points, or 0.94 percent, at 1,392.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index (NAS:^COMP) slid 31.86 points, or 1.03 percent, at 3,073.10.
All ten S&P sectors fell, with financials (.GSPF), a group closely tied to economic growth prospects, down 1.8 percent. Wells Fargo & Co (NYS:WFC - News) fell 2.2 percent to $33.70.
The S&P is off only 0.1 percent this week, with the day's decline erasing a strong rally on Monday.
Best Buy Co Inc (NYS:BBY - News) fell nearly 10 percent to $24.08 and was the biggest decliner on the S&P 500. The electronics retailer reported weaker-than-expected sales, and said it will close 50 big-box stores and cut 400 jobs.
Illumina Inc (NSQ:ILMN - News) rose 4.4 percent to $52.07 after Roche Holding AG (ROG.VX) hiked its offer for the U.S. gene sequencing company in hopes of winning over Illumina shareholders before the annual meeting next month.
Red Hat Inc (NYS:RHT - News) soared 14.4 percent to $58.79 after the business software maker's profit beat expectations for the fifth straight quarter.
Fossil Inc (FOSL.O) will replace Medco Health Solutions Inc (NYS:MHS - News) in the S&P 500 as Express Scripts Inc (NSQ:ESRX - News) acquires Medco in a deal expected to be completed soon. The date of the index change has yet to be announced.

KC PROFILE: RADIO LEGEND TED CRAMER | Bottom Line ...
???? Ted Cramer is a legend in country radio and has been involved with all aspects of?his chosen profession?for 58 years now. He was inducted into the Country DJ ?Hall of Fame? in 1999 and has won enough awards to fill a trophy case.
The much-traveled Cramer is currently with KFKF and sat down to answer questions for Bottom Line Communications.
?NAME:? Ted Cramer
TITLE:? Currently a part-time deejay for KFKF, Kansas City and the co-host of the Saturday morning ?Country Legends? show on the station.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN YOUR CURRENT POSITION?
Eight years now.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BROADCASTING?
I?m currently in my 58th year of broadcasting and 42 of them as a program director.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO YOUR CHOSEN FIELD?
I knew at the age of 5 I wanted to go into radio. There was never any question about doing anything else. I was fascinated with it all through school and made it my job to get into it.
WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR PREVIOUS JOBS BEFORE KFKF?
Well, I have had quite a few!! Here you go:
1953-1957?KIMO (1510) in Independence. It was my first commercial job and I was a jock and for a time in 1956 the News Director. That was my first exposure to country music.
1957?LEEX in Lexington, MO for three months.
1957-58 KFEQ radio and TV in Lexington where I was a radio DJ and TV news anchor on Channel 2.
1958-59?Back to KIMO, which changed its call letter to KANS
1959-1961?KCKN in Kansas City. The station was Top 40 when I went there and switched back to country in 1960. I became the program director and pioneered the modern country format.
1961?Program Director at WTAP in Parkersburg, West VA. I also did TV.
1963-1973?I came back to KCKN at PD and put KCKN-FM on the air in 1963 (which is now KFKF).
1969-1973?I was PD also at WUBE in Cincinnati (it was co-owned with KCKN under Kaye-Smith Broadcasting). I turned WUBE into a country station and in 1970 turned WUBE-FM into country.
1974-1977?PD at WOWK/WIGL-FM in Miami, FL and put WIGL on the air in 1976.
1977-1979?PD at WDAF-61 Country and changed the format to country with Randy Michaels.
1979-1981?PD at 610 WTVN in Columbus, OH. (WDAF and WTVN were Taft stations).
1981-1984?PD at WMAQ in Chicago (NBC?s only country station)
1984-1987?Time off, but worked an occasional shift at 61 Country.
1987-1988?Co-owner of WREN in Topeka.
1988-1989?Joined Gaylord Broadcasting as PD at WKY in Oklahoma City.
1989-1991?Transferred to WSM in Nashville as PD.
1991-2004?Returned to WDAF in KC at PD.
2004-Present?KFKF.
MAJOR AWARDS/HONORS?
Inducted into the Country DJ Hall of Fame in 1999. Billboard?s Program Director of the Year in 1988 and R and R ?Station of the Year? in 1978. I?ve been lucky to also have received a number of local awards for public service in various markets throughout the years.
HAS YOUR CHOSEN FIELD CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?
No, not really.
MARITAL STATUS?
Married with no children.
WHAT IS THE MOST/LEAST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?
Putting together a sound for a radio station and winning. I?ve been very fortunate over the years having a lot of success at the stations I?ve programmed. Creating the modern country format was one of the most exciting experiences along with making 61 Country an AM success story for almost four decades.
The least rewarding moments of my career were probably created by individuals at radio station home offices who have no idea how to program a local station. Some of the large radio chains have executives in the highest offices who are totally incompetent and make huge problems for local programmers. On top of that local managers have lost the art of good management. It?s sad.
DID YOU EVER CONSIDER ANOTHER CAREER?
No. Radio is really all I ever wanted to do.
DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR?
No.
WHAT IS THE STRANGEST THING YOU HAVE COME ACROSS IN YOUR JOB?
When I went to work at WWOK I was impressed with the signal. At 1260 we covered all of Dade and Broward County and then some. The station was non-directional in the daytime.
After about six months were were enjoying some really good ratings in a market that was not considered the best for country music.
Then one day the chief engineer came to me and said the transmitter work was done and we were to begin using the new pattern from a five-tower array. The day we went to the new pattern I drove the signal and was shocked to learn that the signal now disappeared totally in the far reaches of south Miami and gone in Homestead.
No one ever told me when I went to work there about this situation. WWOK has been non-directional since the station was purchased by Mission Broadcasting three years earlier.
The FCC awarded the license to Mission on the condition that the antenna system be repaired. In spite of losing a significant chunk of potential listeners, we seemed to maintain our position in the market. I still don?t know how!!
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?
I went to grade school at Border Star and E.F. Swinney in Kansas City and then high school at Pembroke-Country Day. I went to college at Kansas and UMKC.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN KC?
My wife and I love to eat out at the various restaurants. We have many very good ones here.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? ANY HOBBIES?
Audio has always been a hobby of mine through the years and I love to listen to various genres of music. I also like to work out since weight has always been a problem with me!
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT YOU?
I?m a perfectionist. The worst kind of Virgo!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW?
At the moment I like ?The Firm,? ?Grimm? and other action shows. I love the old Perry Mason series.
WHO IS THE MOST INTERESTING PERSON YOU HAVE INTERVIEWED OR MET?
There are so many!! I?ve interviewed everyone from Patty Andrews to Kenny Chesney. Virtually all of them are interesting in their own way.
WHO DO YOU FOLLOW ON TWITTER?
No one. I don?t Twitter.
WHO WAS THE BIGGEST CELEBRITY YOU EVER INTERVIEWED?
President Harry Truman. Officer Mike Westwood of the Independence Police Dept. was Harry?s bodyguard. Mike and I worked on different projects at KIMO and when I came down to cover the opening of the Truman Library for KFEQ radio and TV Mike got me into interview Harry for about 15 minutes.

Wernerius inyoensis is tiny ? just over half an inch long ? and may live underground.
Matthew Graham, a doctoral student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, discovered it during a nighttime search of the park, using a special ultraviolet light that made the animal glow in the dark. Scorpions have chemicals in their exoskeletons that fluoresce under UV light.
The critter is also elusive. Michael Webber, another UNLV doctoral candidate who helped identify the species' unique features, said that to her knowledge, Graham hadn't yet found any others.
Wernerius inyoensis is probably closely related to two other rare scorpions in the desert Southwest: Wernerius spicatus, which is native to Joshua Tree National Park, and Wernerius mumai, which lives along the Colorado River near Parker, Ariz.
Like those animals, Wernerius inyoensis has an unusually shaped spine above its stinger. But differences in the animal's tail, reproductive organs and pedipalps ? its pincers ? led Graham and Webber to conclude it was a unique species.
The grad students named the scorpion after the Inyo Mountains where they found it, Webber said. The discovery was described in the journal ZooKeys.
"People call scorpions living fossils," Webber said. They evolved around 400 million years ago and their bodies have changed very little since. Scorpions are arachnids, like spiders. They live all over the world, but in the American Southwest they're most likely to be found in dry, sandy habitats.
That means Angelenos probably don't have to worry about stumbling across Wernerius inyoensis in their backyards, Webber added.
The specimen discovered at Death Valley will go on long-term loan to the San Diego Natural History Museum.

Apple's next hot release: The dividend check

NEW YORK (AP) ? Apple made computers sexy. Can it do the same for the musty old dividend?
Issuing a regular payment to your stockholders after years of just amassing cash used to be an admission that your company has run out of creative ideas to grow profits.
The quarterly check for a buck or two was more associated with staid utilities than sleek tech companies.
"It wasn't sexy," says John Buckingham, chief investment officer at Al Frank Asset Management. "Now the cool guy is doing it."
Apple said Monday that it would begin paying a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share starting this summer after years of resisting the idea. Its late former CEO, Steve Jobs, always thought the company could make better use of its cash.
But the hoard of cash and securities grew so large ? $97.6 billion, more than the entire market value of all but 15 companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 ? that Apple had no use for it.
So it took the risk of looking like a fuddy-duddy and reversed its policy. Apple also announced that it planned to buy back $10 billion worth of its stock in the next fiscal year, which begins in October.
Investors pushed the stock up 2.7 percent Monday to $601.10. That's on top of a 37 percent gain since the company first hinted in January that a dividend may be coming.
Perhaps the rise in Apple stock isn't surprising. After years of pulling money out of stocks, investors are cautiously returning, but they're demanding dividend payments. Three-quarters of the $3.6 billion that investors added to stock funds in February went to funds specializing in dividend-paying companies.
One reason for the buying is that many of the alternatives for generating cash are so unattractive lately.
The interest payments on money market accounts, CDs, and many Treasury securities are next to nothing. For the S&P 500, the dividend yield, which measures annual payouts to shareholders against a company's stock price, is 2.04 percent ? at least close to keeping up with inflation.
Another appeal of dividends is that they are taxed at 15 percent, like a capital gain, instead of at income tax rates, as they were previously. The top marginal income tax rate is 35 percent. Dividends are scheduled to be taxed at income rates again starting next year, after the Bush-era tax cuts expire.
It wasn't so long ago that a dividend announcement by a tech company was perceived as a kiss of death.
When Microsoft announced its first dividend in 2003, some investors feared it was a sign that its best days were behind it. Judging from its stock, which has gone nowhere for most of the past nine years, they turned out to be right.
Cisco, whose stock price hasn't moved much since the end of the dot-com craze a decade ago, finally decided to issue a dividend last year. Amazon and Google still don't pay a dividend. Neither does Dell, which has been around for a generation.
Tim Holland, portfolio manager at Tamro Capital, says a dividend is seen as "taboo" for many companies, but he likes Apple's decision.
He says the main attraction for him is the company's proven ability to grow earnings fast ? Apple increased profit 85 percent in the last fiscal year ended Sept. 30 ? and that investors apparently don't believe it can keep doing so.
Holland says that if they had more faith, the stock wouldn't be trading at a cheap 13.1 times expected earnings over the next year. The so-called price-to-earnings ratio of companies in the S&P 500 has averaged 15 or 16 over the decades.
It makes sense to buy for that reason, he says: "The company keeps delivering."
For the coming fiscal year ending Sept. 30, Apple is expected to increase earnings by nearly 60 percent, according to a survey of analysts by FactSet, a research firm.
"Their earnings growth is reliable," says Shaw Wu, an analyst at Sterne, Agee & Leech and another Apple fan. "And they're still an innovative, cutting-edge company."
Had it held on to the money, Apple could have faced legal challenges from shareholders arguing that the company was misusing their money.
The dividend will come to $10.60 per year, or 1.8 percent of Apple's stock price. Microsoft pays a dividend yield of 2.5 percent, Hewlett-Packard 2 percent. Utilities often pay 5 percent or more.
In dollar terms, it will be one of the richest dividends in investing. Apple will pay $10 billion in the first year, placing it just below AT&T and Verizon Communications. Those companies use dividends as their main attraction to investors.
In Apple's case, Jeffrey Snider, president of Atlantic Capital Management, an investment management company, sees the decision to offer a dividend as a possible omen, accidental or otherwise.
He says technology changes too quickly for leaders in one industry to stay on top for long, citing the once dominant companies like AOL, Yahoo and Research in Motion.
Apple can't keep iPads on the shelf now, but there was a time when the BlackBerry looked unbeatable, too. You would have lost a lot of money betting that would continue. Research in Motion stock has dropped 90 percent from its peak nearly four years ago.
"No one thinks this can happen to Apple," he says. But he adds: "This could be the beginning of the end of their growth story."

Should the Small Business Administration Be Abolished? | Mercatus

We hear a lot about the vital role of small business in the U.S. Especially in election years.
But that raises the question: How vital is the role of the federal government in promoting the role of small business in America? And specifically, how vital is the Small Business Administration in that promotion?
The SBA's supporters argue that it plays a crucial role, guaranteeing billions of dollars in loans for small businesses each year and providing an army of counselors and information resources for those who need help. It particularly focuses on those who, some say, have been failed by conventional lenders.
But the SBA's critics say that the agency's loans do more harm than good. The loans go to only a tiny fraction of the small businesses in the country, for example, and help the recipients compete with small businesses that aren't similarly subsidized. Thus, instead of playing a crucial role in the U.S. economy, the critics say, the agency really is directing resources where the market has determined they aren't needed.
Yes: It Is a Waste of Money

Congress created the Small Business Administration in 1953 to fix a specific problem: Lenders allegedly were turning away large numbers of small businesses that, if given a loan, would generate untapped economic growth.
It is questionable whether this problem ever existed. However, there is plenty of evidence that today the SBA hurts more small businesses than it helps, wastes taxpayer money and distorts economic activity.
The SBA's main activity is to provide government-backed loans to qualifying small businesses. In fiscal 2011, the agency requested $1.5 billion in discretionary outlays. However, total outlays, which include projected payouts for defaults, were $6.2 billion. In the past, requested outlays were closer to $1 billion. Also, the gap between that request and actual outlays used to be much smaller, but the agency has suffered increased losses in recent years on its guarantees. How this trend will evolve depends on the economy and whether default rates on SBA loans continue to increase. Currently, outstanding loans guaranteed by the SBA?and federal taxpayers?total about $92.9 billion.
Negligible Benefits
For all that real and potential cost, the SBA's effect on economic growth is negligible at best. The problem is that SBA loan guarantees go primarily to businesses that have been rejected by conventional lenders, businesses judged by private investors as unlikely to create jobs, marketable innovations or new economic productivity. The SBA wrongly assumes that every high-risk borrower has the potential to succeed.
One might argue that such risks are justified, because the SBA is an important source of small-business lending. However, the loans it guarantees benefit a relatively tiny number of firms. According to the Government Accountability Office, the SBA flagship loan program accounts for only a little more than 1% of total small-business loans outstanding. So, for the most part, SBA loans help a fraction of small businesses compete with unsubsidized small firms.
The agency does indeed run other programs, typically with results as unimpressive as its loan activities. There have been instances of poor oversight, for example, of its preference programs intended to carve out a percentage of federal contracts for small and disadvantaged businesses. The SBA also offers some training, technical assistance and "know-how" courses, but this should not be the role of the federal government, and it isn't needed. The private sector is already providing such services through private associations like the National Federation of Independent Businesses.
The SBA loan program is best understood as a subsidy to banks. Borrowers apply to an SBA-certified bank. The SBA guarantees 75% to 85% of the value of loans made in the flagship program. The banks then boost their earnings by selling the risk-free portion of the loans on a secondary market. Ironically, it's also the biggest banks that do the most business through the SBA.
The SBA and its proponents constantly talk about how the types of firms they serve are vital to job creation. But the latest research argues it's younger businesses, not small ones, that drive employment growth. The data show that real job creation doesn't kick in until the new/small businesses survive and grow into larger operations.
SBA proponents dismiss the research, saying young and small businesses are one and the same. It is true that most new, or young, firms start out small. But the ones that end up creating huge numbers of jobs don't remain small for long.
Take your corner pizza restaurant. In 20 years, it may still employ only a dozen people. It won't be young anymore, but it will still be small and it will never be a source of job creation like the SBA touts as part of its mission.
Seen and Unseen
More than 150 years ago, French economist Frederic Bastiat noted that many economic fallacies persist because the beneficiaries of government actions are easily visible, while the victims are harder to identify. The SBA is a classic example. Small-business owners who get subsidized loans feel good (so do the banks that profit from the loans), but we can't identify how that capital would have been used absent government intervention. We can count the jobs created at the subsidized businesses, but we don't know how many more jobs might have been created if market forces determined the allocation of capital.
That's the economic analysis. The political analysis is that politicians have successfully sold the SBA as a program to help small business?a widely held belief that's almost as sacrosanct as baseball, motherhood and apple pie. In reality, the SBA is a form of corporate welfare, and America's biggest banks are the only clear winners, leaving taxpayers on the hook for billions of dollars.
No: Its Role Is a Crucial One

Small businesses created two of out three net new jobs in the U.S. from 1993 to 2009. About half of the people who work in this country are employed by a small business.
With unemployment still over 8%, now is not the time to eliminate one of the most important resources available to America's job creators.
The power of the SBA isn't just measured by the number of loans it makes. The Small Business Administration helps keep capital, contracts and know-how flowing to small businesses. In fiscal 2011, the agency guaranteed $30.5 billion in loans to about 61,000 companies, helped small businesses win nearly $100 billion in government contracts and mentored one million entrepreneurs through its network of business counselors, such as the 13,000 volunteers of Score, a nonprofit association of business counselors.
Through its Small Business Development Centers, Women Business Development Centers, and similar facilities that help minorities, women, veterans and other business owners, companies of fewer than 500 employees can learn about marketing and forecasting, and how to navigate the federal contract system. Some 14,000 counselors and trainers, including Score volunteers, help entrepreneurs get started and help established owners take their companies to the next level. The training resources are mostly free and are delivered in person or through a variety of media.
Aiming for Success
Such training gives these businesses the greatest possible opportunity to succeed. The SBA further collaborates with many private nongovernmental organizations to offer additional training, resources and technical assistance.
Even if the number of loans made by the SBA is relatively small, the aid goes to some of the most important, and most in need, sectors of our economy. In a 2009 study, the Urban Institute found women and minorities were three to five times as likely to get a loan through the SBA as they were through conventional lending.
I spoke recently with a woman in Tennessee who, after failing to get bank loans to launch a small manufacturing company, obtained an SBA loan within 45 days. Now, a year and a half later, she is preparing to meet with SBA counselors to expand her business and begin exporting her goods. She has two employees and several contractors, and is looking to hire.
Women and minority business owners play a substantial role in our economy already, but could contribute so much more. Get rid of the SBA, and they will contribute so much less.
The argument that SBA loans are given to applicants with poor plans and prospects, as judged by the market, misses a key point: The market too often is misjudging the viability of many of these businesses. Research shows women start their businesses with less capital than men, and there's a widespread perception that it is harder for women- and minority-owned businesses to get loans from financial institutions than it is for similarly qualified white men to get loans.
This isn't because women-owned businesses are less likely to succeed; it's because the market mistakenly perceives they are less likely to succeed.
Critical Advocate
The SBA is an advocate for small businesses with lenders at all times, but its role is especially important during economic downturns, when the squeeze on commercial credit can disproportionately affect small businesses. The SBA played a key role in arguing for policies to force the nation's biggest banks to resume lending to small businesses after the financial crisis hit in 2008.
The agency also worked closely with community banks to encourage more lending during the recession, and recently worked with 13 of the largest banks in the U.S. to increase their commitments by $20 billion over the next three years.
President Barack Obama recently elevated the SBA to a cabinet-level agency. Making SBA Administrator Karen Mills a cabinet member gives small business a seat at the government decision-making table like never before.
Those who wish to abolish the SBA cite research that makes the puzzling assertion that it is young businesses, not small, that drive job creation today. I doubt that any small business will understand this argument. Small and young businesses are one and the same. Small businesses employ about one-half of U.S. workers. Of 120.6 million nonfarm private-sector workers in 2007, small firms employed 59.9 million and large companies 60.7 million. About half of small-business employment is in second-stage companies (10 to 99 employees), and half is in firms 15 years old or older.
